Watch for an email with log-in information

Are you or someone you know looking for Skinner West enrollment information for next school year?  We are currently waiting for guidelines from Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Once we have information, we will post it in the Admission section of our web site.

We will have pre-K in the fall. Universal pre-K will take place for 4-year-olds. Registration information will be posted as soon as we have it. Registration for 3-year-olds is currently TBD.

In this year's yearbook, we would like to include some photos of our Skinner Superstars e-learning. Please email photos to Mr. Lomax ASAP at blomax@cps.edu.

My amazing mom
by Landon B.

My mom is a great mom, you won't find a mom like her anywhere
She is a lovely mom and plays sports like a pro
She sure has an arm and knows how to throw
I love how she cooks for me like no other
She makes me homemade chicken noodle soup like no other mother
She cleans like a crazy machine
She does her own thing and is a queen
She grapples me and makes me scream in laughter
Most of all I love her for who she is and what she does and I will love her hereafter

My Mom
by Violetta P.

My mom the one who cares for me
The one who I can relate too
The one who gives me the best advice
The one who I love
The one who loves me
The one who keeps me safe
The one who keeps me happy
My mom is the one who I love dearest
Happy mothers day !

Thank you to all of our past virtual LSC meeting attendees. If you weren't able to attend or want a copy for yourself, download Principal Clark's report.

Due to the budget and CIWP approval deadlines, the next virtual LSC meeting will be held, Thursday, May 14 at 6:00 p.m. Invite information will be sent out early next week. We look forward to "seeing" you there!

Fourth Quarter Gradinggrading

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) recognizes the challenges students and families face due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. They are recommending the Board of Education approve a modified promotion policy that will advance all elementary students to the next grade level in the fall. While student work will be graded to allow them to improve their third quarter grades, no student will receive a fourth quarter grade that falls below their third quarter grade.

Many Skinner Superstar families participate in various day camps during the summer months. Many of the schedules for these camps have been changed due to the COVID health crisis. Here are some helpful links:

Last week, in partnership with Citadel, the mayor's office launched "Stay Home. Hit Play.", a weekly video series that will bring engaging, educational programming from Chicago institutions to students and families across the city. The series has partnered with the city's museums and cultural institutions to invite students to go behind the scenes at some of Chicago's most iconic places on Wednesdays while staying home.

Throughout the series, Mayor Lightfoot will join museum curators and staff as they lead virtual tours of their most popular exhibits and even share hidden treasures not usually seen by the public. Viewers will take virtual field trips to the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, the DuSable Museum of African American History, the Museum of Science and Industry, the National Museum of Mexican Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Lincoln Park Zoo. Along with each episode, students will find corresponding learning activities on the website to further engage with each museum experience.

Episodes will air:
  • Online Wednesdays at HitPlayChicago.org
  • Fridays at 5:30 p.m. on WTTW (11.1)
  • Mondays at 12:30 p.m. on WTTW Prime (11.2)
Subsequent "Stay Home. Hit Play." episodes will air each Wednesday online and Fridays and Mondays on TV, and all segments and related student worksheets will be available on the series web site.

Follow the program on Instagram @hitplaychicago for updates.

A Virtual LSC meeting was held on Thursday, April 30.

Thank you to all of the attendees!  Our first Virtual LSC meeting has an estimated 50 participants!

The next virtual LSC meeting will be held May 14 at 6:00.
